Hohokam Elementary School's modernization stands as a testament to thoughtful design and community collaboration. Located in Scottsdale Unified School District, the extensive project includes a 45,000 SF remodel of existing buildings and the addition of 34,000 SF of new space. CMTA was hired to design the MEP systems for the campus modernization.
Developed through public meetings and in collaboration with the district and stakeholders, the project prioritized preserving the school’s historical significance while upgrading it to meet 21st-century standards. Five of the eleven original buildings were demolished to make way for key new facilities, including administration, media center, and multipurpose buildings, as well as an extended drop-off lane, updated playgrounds, and additional parking space.
Additional enhancements include improved security with a relocated administration and lobby, comprehensive mechanical and electrical system upgrades, a shaded outdoor amphitheater, a new cafeteria, upgraded insulation, and campus-wide Wi-Fi, ensuring a fully modernized and functional learning environment for the community.
