Zero Energy

Leadership

CMTA is a national pioneer in the development of Zero Energy and Zero Carbon buildings, having engineered more than 9.7 Million square feet of Zero Energy and 5.6 Million square feet of Zero Carbon projects across the country. In 2010, Richardsville Elementary was introduced as the first Zero Energy school in the United States, annually generating more energy than it consumes. In 2021, District of Columbia Public Schools opened the first WELL certified and Zero Carbon school at John Lewis Elementary, proving that WELL certification and Zero Energy are achievable within budget. More recently in 2022, CMTA designed the first Zero Carbon Behavioral Health Hospital at Boston Medical Center's Brockton Behavioral Health Center.

Our Zero Energy design philosophy is simple: first achieve drastic energy results, then consider options for renewable energy.

This strategy allows smaller renewable power systems to be installed, and is the basis for creating financial models that are worth the investment.
