Lord Abbett Headquarters

Lord, Abbett & Co., an independent, privately held investment management firm, recently moved into its new 178,000-square-foot headquarters on the top five floors of 30 Hudson Street—the second tallest building in New Jersey. Designed with a strong emphasis on promoting employee health and wellness, the office integrates a variety of amenities, including a game room, fitness lounge, training rooms, café, commercial-grade kitchen, event spaces, audiovisual booth, digital content studio, and an auditorium for town halls and meetings. The workplace also features a mix of executive offices, open workstations, and multipurpose rooms to foster collaboration and flexibility.

Designed in collaboration with HLW, JT Magen Construction, and Gardiner + Theobald, CMTA provided MEP engineering, IT and security design services, and commissioning for the new headquarters.

Sustainability and wellness were central to the project, resulting in the office achieving LEED Platinum certification and pursuing Zero Carbon and WELL Gold certifications. Key sustainable design strategies, including the installation of energy-efficient equipment and lighting, led to a 34% reduction in embodied carbon. This headquarters reflects the firm’s commitment to creating a space that supports employee well-being while prioritizing sustainability and energy efficiency.
