Xavier University College of Osteopathic Medicine

Xavier UniversityCincinnati, Ohio

In 2023, Xavier University embarked on an ambitious initiative to establish the nation’s first Jesuit medical school, while also addressing a community need for additional primary care physicians. Breaking ground in December 2024, the new $110 million Jesuit College of Osteopathic Medicine will be a cornerstone for aspiring physicians seeking a patient-centered education rooted in holistic practices and world-class care. Partnering with SLAM architects, CMTA provided MEP engineering and technology design for the innovative facility.

Spanning 130,000 square feet, the state-of-the-art facility will feature advanced amenities, including a simulated hospital with 16 exam rooms and five flexible simulation rooms, a 200-seat lecture hall, and a 5,600-square-foot meeting space. Enhancing the student experience, the facility will also include a unique teaching kitchen, envisioned as a social hub for student connection and collaboration.

The team is also implementing advanced air scrubbing technology to enhance indoor air quality while reducing overall energy use. Additionally, the building is targeting WELL Gold certification, aligning with the project’s sustainability and wellness goals. Slated for completion in 2026, the college will welcome its inaugural class of medical students in 2027, solidifying Xavier University’s role as a leader in transformative medical education.
