Cannon Beach Development

Revel SurfMesa, Arizona

Cannon Beach is a 37-acre, 500,000-square-foot mixed-use destination in Mesa, Arizona, developed to bring a coastal sun, sand, and surf experience to the desert. The development features retail, dining, hospitality, entertainment, and Arizona’s first and only surf park, Revel Surf, which includes a cutting-edge wave surf lagoon surrounded by restaurants, retail spaces, and recreational amenities. Seaside elements are thoughtfully incorporated throughout the site, with themes expressed through color, massing, and texture.

To support the development’s diverse spaces and operational needs, CMTA provided comprehensive MEP design services for the surf park and select buildings within the support strip center. At Revel Surf, advanced hydraulic, pumping, electrical, and control systems power both Swell MFG’s traveling wave technology and UNIT Surf Pool’s stationary rapid wave system, delivering a diverse range of surf experiences for all skill levels. CMTA’s MEP design supported the complex power distribution for the pumps that circulate the water and operate the hydraulic systems, as well as the utility infrastructure required to integrate these innovative wave-generation systems into the broader mixed-use development. These coordinated engineering solutions helped ensure reliable performance and efficient operation across the facility.

As part of the broader Cannon Beach development, CMTA also provided MEP engineering design for the Restaurant Row Shell Buildings, which included four new retail shell buildings totaling approximately 39,000 square feet. The building systems were designed to support long-term performance while providing flexible, high-quality spaces for future restaurant and retail tenants.
