Simpson Middle School Powers Up With Solar Array

Loudoun County Public Schools’ shared J. Lupton Simpson Middle School’s new, state-of-the-art roof-mounted solar array with the Ashburn, Virginia learning community - establishing Simpson Middle School as the division’s first school to receive most of its energy from sunlight!

Simpson Middle generates about 75% of its energy from the roof-mounted solar array. Thanks to the energy-efficient installation, the building will save more than $100,000 a year in utility costs.

CMTA Energy Solutions’ team of energy efficiency experts and building science leaders first assessed all of the division’s schools to determine what schools should be addressed next. Simpson Middle is the first project completed under CMTA Energy Solutions’ five-year contract with Loudoun County Public Schools.

The team enjoys working with the school division while designing state-of-the-art K-12 facilities and establishing long-lasting energy-efficient practices. We look forward to seeing what impactful projects the Loudon County Public Schools and CMTA Energy Solutions tackle within the team’s five-year contract!
