Florida's First Zero Energy School
Canoe Creek Charter Academy is a 112,500 square foot addition and renovation project for the School District of Osceola County. After recent success at NeoCity Academy, the districts first Zero Energy School, CMTA was hired for this project. CMTA engineered all Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing systems, as well as, the technology design. The addition and ren-ovation includes a new two-story classroom building, administrative and dining buildings, and a gymnasium. Other project components include telecommunications, access control and security design, and site utilities.
With a focus on high performance and Zero Energy design, the building will utilize water source heat pumps and dedicated outdoor air systems with energy recovery and demand-control ventilation with bi-polar ionization. The lighting design utilizes LED lighting with a color temperature that supports both alertness and circadian rhythm. CMTA is also redesigning the traditional Osceola kitchen as a high-performance kitchen with drastic energy reduction.
