Center Grove Community School Corporation is planning to heavily invest in renewable energy. The Center Grove School Board approved a $15 million Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract with CMTA to not only reduce the district’s utility costs but also make the district home to Indiana's first net zero school. The scope of this project includes:

  • Implementation of a 500.4 kW roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) array for Center Grove High School
  • Implementation of a 239.9 kW roof-mounted solar PV array for Center Grove Elementary School
  • Implementation of a 738 kW roof-mounted solar PV array for Center Grove Middle School Central
  • Implementation of a 81.9 kW roof-mounted PV array for the district's Emergency Op Center
  • Solar retro-commissioning for existing ground-mounted solar array at Walnut Grove Elementary School
  • Integration of Building Automation System (BAS) controls at Center Grove Middle School North into new Trane BAS for improved energy efficiency and occupant comfort
  • Retro-commissioning of BAS controls for 13 facilities, providing optimized setpoints and zone schedules, updated graphics, and optimal start sequencing and fan cycling
  • Implementation of geothermal HVAC system at Maple Grove Elementary School, saving over 1 million kWh of electricity

The project will deliver a total of 1.59 MW of roof-mounted solar photovoltaic systems and over 1.33 MW of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic systems, providing a substantial boost to the district's energy efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, it is projected to save the district an impressive $22 million over the next 20 years, ensuring long-term financial and environmental benefits.
