The Boston Globe - Boston Medical Center

The Boston Globe reported that Boston Medical Center – "the largest safety-net hospital and busiest emergency services operation in New England" – is better prepared to face COVID-19 and the financial and operational strains that come with it, thanks to energy efficiency measures taken over the years.

Bob Biggio, Boston Medical Center's Senior Vice President of Facilities and Support Services, credits CMTA Boston's Managing Partner, Jack Nelson, for his decades-long effort to "help mastermind BMC's efficiency overhaul." In the article, Jack notes that HVAC improvements currently save around $1.3 million annually on energy. These efforts have helped to make BMC 96% carbon neutral for energy and on track to become New England’s first carbon-neutral hospital by year end.
