New Sustainable Healthcare Campus with High Energy Savings
Consulting Engineering
Indiana University Health’s Academic Adult Hospital campus is a transformative new $2+ billion healthcare project spanning 2,650,000 SF across a 44-acre site in downtown Indianapolis. The 3-tower, 17-story full-service hospital delivers comprehensive, multidisciplinary acute care and sets a new benchmark for modern academic medical campuses.
CMTA Technology Solutions was selected to provide a full scope of technology design and consulting services for this expansive project. Our responsibilities encompass information transport systems, medical technology integration design, and security design for the sprawling campus. Our extensive experience and leadership in implementing advanced IT/security designs have been pivotal to the project’s success, ensuring that both the new hospital and downtown campus not only meet but exceed leading standards for healthcare facilities.
Our team’s design involved all information services/information technology, communications, and low voltage structured cable design, including inside/outside plant fiber and telephony, emergency phones, telecommunications equipment/room (TE/TR) design, integrated operating rooms, wireless access point design, PACS, patient infotainment television, nurse call, paging, Real Time Locating Systems (RTLS) and radio frequency (RF) DAS systems. To enhance security, CMTA was responsible for all electronic door access control systems, video surveillance systems (VMS), and full access control (SMS) systems across the entire campus. CMTA also authored the campus’ Electronic Safety and Security System Standards.
CMTA played a critical role in the facility’s technology and security design and coordination, often acting as a conduit between floor leads and the Informatics, Clinical Operations and Information Services departments. The team also engaged in granular coordination with various architectural teams to ensure the seamless integration of security and technology measures into the building’s design from the project onset. This was crucial to developing a well-rounded, user-friendly, and secure environment that catered to the diverse needs of the campus.
