Located in West Virginia, Berkeley County is the second largest school district in the state and their fastest growing school system. CMTA successfully completed 2 phases of energy upgrades for more than 2,543,000 square feet, including 7 new geothermal systems, significant HVAC renovations, and LED lighting replacements for 23,436 fixtures. For this Phase 3 project, 6 schools, totaling 210,000 square feet, will undergo energy upgrades. The scope includes:

  • HVAC system upgrades for Back Creek Valley Elementary School, Burke Street Elementary School, and Winchester Avenue Elementary School, including new dedicated outside air systems (DOAS) with variable refrigerant flow
  • HVAC system upgrade for Tomahawk Intermediate School, including new boilers, cooling tower, DOAS, and 22 new water-source heat pumps
  • HVAC system upgrade for Musselman Middle School, including new DOAS and new variable flow 2-pipe fan coil system
  • HVAC system upgrade for Hedgesville High School, including a variable air volume (VAV) system
  • HVAC controls system upgrade for all schools
  • Restroom renovations for Burke Street Elementary School and Winchester Avenue Elementary School, including new plumbing fixtures, accessories and finishes
  • Window replacements for Burke Street Elementary School, including all first and second floor windows
  • Window replacements for Back Creek Valley ES, including all new windows for original schoolhouse building
